We have therefore written down the three most important points and tips for your livestream data protection.
The first point to focus on is the livestream server. Every livestream must be hosted on a server or a network. However, many providers and agencies stream via American servers such as Services (AWS), Google Cloud or Azure. GDPR and data protection difficult for livestreams! We rely on German servers for our livestream server. These are located in Nuremberg and Falkenstein at Hetzner company. Another advantage of German servers: the direct contact person. We are in constant contact with Hetzner and can expand our server capacity if necessary. By hosting on German servers, we guarantee that the data is secure.
Anyone who broadcasts their stream via channels such as Facebook or YouTube also has to deal with the issue of data protection. Facebook has been criticized for its data protection for some time now. What data is stored and for what purpose is often not transparent. The GDPR-compliant solution: your own, individual streaming page. This applies not only to image recordings, but above all to possible audio recordings. In terms of data protection, it is sometimes advisable to collect participants’ questions in writing during a Q&A session and then have an employee ask them.
